Majahuitas - Puerto Vallarta Secluded - Casual - Primitive
 |
|
There are no roads to the eight ocean-view casitas of Majahuitas, a beachside Mexican getaway just outside Puerto Vallarta. The 20-minute ride in the small boat sent for you, along a rugged and beautiful stretch of coastline with countless coves and rocky headlands, is a treat in itself. Landing on the white sands of a small bay with crystalline waters, a peaceful stranded-on-a-beach feeling will envelope you. From here on, everything is provided by your hosts and nature.
The rusticity of the open-air casitas, some perched on the hill, others right where the waves break, doesn´t mean comfort or service are spared. At Majahuitas it is barefoot-with-linen, and if you consider plugging in your laptop or making a phone call a necessity, this is not the place for you. There are no phones on the property and guest rooms do not have electrical outlets. Torches, candles and lanterns light the way when the sun goes down.
Whether it´s a romantic tryst or a family vacation, there´s something for everyone at Majahuitas. Your fancy may take you to the nearby underwater canyon, encountering sea turtles or manta rays on the way, gazing at dolphins and theatrical humpback whales on the horizon, or up the stream into the jungle where countless birds and incredible flora dazzle you. You may just choose to crawl into a hammock with a book and enjoy the attention of the amiable staff with your favorite tropical concoction.
Because the sun is the source of energy in this ecologically oriented resort, dinner is by candlelight. A highly varied menu features fresh-caught seafood as a predictable specialty. Breakfast and lunches are served at individual tables in a casual style. Dinners are most often served family style at the grand table under an immense chandelier. By special arrangement an intimate beach-front dinner for two can always be arranged.
Consider This ... Majahuitas is the perfect retreat for the adventurous seeking comfortable settings. You can combine your holiday and stay a few nights at either Hacienda San Angel in downtown Puerto Vallarta or travel up the coast to Casa las Brisas.
You´ll Especially Love The food! The chef from this hotel is excellent and all the dishes are fresh and delicious.
Who It Would Appeal To Those who are in harmony with nature and with themselves. There are little distractions here and the sound of breaking waves in the ocean is as loud as it gets. The remote beach front, jungle location means you will share space with some of nature´s inhabitants but these are harmless and in some cases, quite entertaining.

Family Room / Entertainment Center Two things you should be aware of before visiting Majahuitas:
All the beaches in Mexico are public, so it is impossible to stop boaters from coming and visiting the beach where Majahuitas is located. There are a couple of tour boats that visit the cove and their guests are taken in by a small skiff to the beach. This usually happens sometime between 11 am and 1 pm. Where you had the whole beach to yourselves in the morning, you will know find yourself sharing it with many others. It is a large beach so there is plenty of room, and they are respectful and keep to themselves at one end of the beach. But you should be aware of it, so it is not a surprise. During this time guests can take a siesta, visit another beach by kayak, snorkel, go for a walk in the jungle or lounge in their casita if they prefer more privacy.
It should also be stressed that Majahuitas is a rustic hotel. The rooms are open, and sometimes it seems that it´s similar to camping or staying at the “cabin at the lake” that you may have grown up with as a child. For some, it is just wonderful. For others, it may seem a little too close to nature and they may be uncomfortable. If you have some concerns about this, email or call our office, we´ll be happy to answer your questions.

Transportation The hotel will assist you with transportation arrangements from Puerto Vallarta´s airport to the launch point in Boca de Tomatlan. The cost is approximately $40 USD via a taxi for up to four people.
Boat transportation from Boca de Tomatlan to Majahuitas is included only for stays of four or more nights. For shorter stays the cost is $40 USD.
Please provide your complete flight arrival information at least three days prior to arrival date to ensure you are met by the boat at Boca de Tomatlan. The trip is approximately 40 minutes from the airport to the hotel.
Please take into account that this is a remote location where last-minute telephone calls may be difficult. We strongly suggest avoiding having to contact the hotel at the last minute. If you should be unable to contact anyone, we suggest that you make your way to Boca de Tomatlan and ask for a water taxi to Majahuitas. This should only be done as a last resort.
Please take into account that you´ll be boarding a small boat with no pier. You will walk out into the water to board so we recommend wearing casual clothing and sandals. | |
